For Students: Invite a parent or guardian to Scoir

When you invite a parent or guardian to connect with your Scoir account, they’ll get access to helpful tools like financial calculators, a view of your My Colleges list, and the ability to suggest colleges to you.

How to send an invitation

  1. Go to your Student Profile in Scoir.
  2. In the Personal Details section, click + Invite a Parent.
  3. Enter their:
    • First name
    • Last name
    • Email address
  4. (Optional but recommended) Add their education history during this step:
    1. Select the highest degree they earned from the dropdown
    2. If you choose "Some College, No Degree Earned" or higher, you’ll need to enter their school and degree.
    3. You can add more than one school and degree by clicking + Add a School.
  5. Click Invite to send the email invitation.

Your parent or guardian will receive an email letting them know you've invited them to join you on Scoir. The message includes a link for them to register and connect to your account.

If they didn’t receive the invitation email, you can resend it by clicking Resend next to their name in your profile.

What you can edit after sending the invite

You can still update their information after sending the invite, as long as they haven’t registered yet. Click the pencil icon next to their name in your profile to:

  • Edit their name or email
  • Add or update their education history
  • Unlink them from your account.
Once they register, their information (including education history) can no longer be added or changed by you, your counselor, or your parent.

Removing a parent or guardian connection

If you ever need to remove a parent or guardian from your Scoir account, click the pencil icon next to their name and select Unlink Parent, then Confirm Unlink. This only removes the connection to your account. It does not delete their Scoir account.
